How Followers Of Christ Are Made

I left off on Saturday with: Matthew 28:18-20 (IEB) After Jesus rose from death he met with the 11 followers in Galilee and said “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore, after you’ve gone out, make followers for me from every ethnic group. Immerse them by the authority of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything I commanded you. Remember, I will always be with you — even until the end of time.”

I’m looking at the scriptures that tell me how to make followers for Him.

Romans 10:17 (IEB): “Since a person believes something because he hears about it, he should hear the message of Christ.” (People must hear the word of God.)

John 3:16 (IEB): “God loved the people of the world so much that He gave up His one and only Son. Every person who commits himself to Jesus will not be destroyed. Instead, that person will have eternal life.” (A person must believe what they hear.)

Luke 13:3 (IEB): “… I am telling you, if all of you don’t change your hearts, then you will be destroyed as they were” (Each person must repent of their own sins.)

Matthew 10:32 (IEB): Jesus said “So, if anyone confesses, in front of other people, that he believes in me, then I will speak up for him in front of my Father in heaven.” (To be saved a person must confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; that He died for our sins; was crucified, buried and rose again from the grave on the third day.)

Mark 16:15-16 (IEB): “Jesus said to them, ‘when you have gone into the whole world, proclaim the Good News to all mankind. The person who believes and is immersed (in baptism) will be saved, but the person who doesn’t believe it will be condemned.” (I must tell the Good News. Baptism by immersion is required.)

Acts 2:36-38 (IEB): “Therefore, all the people of Israel can be sure of this one thing: God has made Jesus both Lord and Messiah, this man whom you nailed to the cross! When the people heard this, they felt a sharp, cutting pain in their conscience. They asked Peter and the other apostles, ‘What should we do, brothers?’ The Peter answered them, ‘Change your hearts (repent) and each one of you must be immersed (baptized) by the authority of Jesus the Messiah, so that your sins may be forgiven. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit…’.” (They had already heard, believed, and confessed.)

Revelation 2:10 (IEB): “Don’t be afraid of anything you are about to suffer. Look, the Devil is about to throw some of you into prison. He wants to test you. You will have trouble for ten days. Be faithful, even if you must die. I will give you the crown (reward) of life. (Stay faithful!)

Christ has done His part. As a baptized Christian it is now time for me to do mine.
